As economic depression continues, the apartment market is also suffering from it, just like others. Empty room is increasing and the rent is decreasing. According to WallStreet Journal, the percentage of empty rooms of apartments in U.S has been increased to approximately 7.5%, which was bigger than the last year. It is the biggest record in 22 years. The rent also decreased. Although there is benfit such as exemption of first month’s rent, the percentage of the rent has decreased to 1.1% in the first quarter of a year and it decreased again to 0.9% in the second quarter, which was average 975$. After the financial crisis, especially New York City showed the greatest decline in the rent fee and increase in empty apartment. Well, students in New York who does not have a job and wants to live in an apartment might be happy about this because of the low rent fee, but generally, the whole apartment market is suffering. The depression needs time to recover so I guess we just have to wait…
