A non-profit member represents the views of an organization, such as a 501(c)(3) organization, that has certain tax exemptions.  Examples of non-profit organizations include campaigns, charities and think tanks.


A for-profit member represents the views of an organization that operates with the intention of making a profit.  Examples of for-profit organizations include bands, energy companies and newspapers.
